You Made Your Own Bed

from EP by PK Tessmann

about

This song was written about the tragedy of Amanda Todd, a young teenager who was bullied relentlessly and eventually took her own life. As someone who has dealt with bullying and depression in the past, her story really hit me in the gut. Once I finished mourning her, I wrote this song.

lyrics

Fever's just another word for love, she sighs
Biting into an apple and hits the ground, like Snow White.

Shaken by the sound she hears at night, findin'
Her knees, her hands, her heart, her sense of sight, is weakened.

Chorus: And you said: you made your own bed
and you said....
And you said: you made your own bed
and you said....

You forgot to tell her that you cared, instead
Of shaming the adult you thought was there, unaccepted.

You've crushed her soul, her every little dream, you're tryin'
To convince them that you didn't say those things, you're lyin'

Chorus.

Bridge: And forging feeling somehow all the things
That are broken, go unseen....

Chorus.
